INDIAN TOWNSHIP – George W. Sockabasin, 62, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, in Bangor. George was born March 7, 1946, on Peter Dana Point, son of the late William and Josephine (Socoby) Sockabasin. He enjoyed sports, and visiting with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by a sister, Mary Sock; and six brothers, Herbert, Edward Jr., Henry, Simon and Sam Sockabasin. Surviving are his three children, Sam Sockabasin and his companion, Evon Levesque, Chad Sockabasin and his companion, Stephanie Bailey, and Heidi Sockabasin and her companion, Dana Francis, all of Indian Township; their mother, Rebecca Sockabasin of Bangor; his loving sister, Alice Lola of Indian Township; brother, Allen Sockabsin of Bangor; six grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. Visiting hours will be held 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, until 10 a.m. Saturday at his home, 471 Peter Dana Point Road, Apt. C, Indian Township. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann Mission, Peter Dana Point, with the Rev. James Plourde, celebrant. Burial will after in the Tribal Cemetery.
