BREWER and NEWBURGH – Margaret K. “Peg” McCausland, 92, wife of the late George McCausland, died Feb. 10, 2009, at her home in Newburgh. She was born Dec. 28, 1916, in Long Island, N.Y., the daughter of Charles A. and Elizabeth (Berger) Seibert. After her mother’s death in 1918, Peg was raised by her mother’s sister and husband, Lena and Louis Meier. She was a former communicant of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, Brewer and St. Teresa’s Sodality. She was also a member of Brewer Community Service Council. After living in Brewer for 40 years, she went to live with her son and daughter-in-law in Newburgh. Surviving are two children, Elizabeth McCall and her husband, Robert, of Oregon and John McCausland and his wife, Hildegarde, of Newburgh; her grandchildren who called her Nana, Victoria McCall of Seattle, Rebecca Rohling and her husband, David, of Oregon, Elizabeth Haws and her husband, David, of Oregon, Robert McCall of Oregon, John McCausland of Newburgh and Susan Ross and her friend, Carl Hopkins, of Troy; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Chad of Dixmont, Kristi Ross of Hawaii, Margaret and Molly Rohling of Oregon. She will be remembered by Diane McCausland of Dixmont, Cecile Morrill of Brewer and Greg and Connie Henderson of Dixmont. Her family especially thanks the staff and caregivers of St. Joseph Hospice. Family and friends may visit 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in May at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Western Avenue, Hampden, at a time to be announced. Burial will be afterward at Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterville.
