VEAZIE – Myrtle Chaloux, 86, died peacefully Feb. 11, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 2, 1922, in Hudson, the daughter of Harry and Effie (Ellis) Pomeroy. She graduated from Old Town High School in 1942 and married the love of her life for 66 wonderful years, Al Chaloux, Oct. 13, 1942. Myrtle so enjoyed being with her family, from camping and sitting around the campfire to playing 13’s with her grandchildren. She was so proud of her flower gardens and loved the time spent on them. Myrtle was an avid bird watcher who fed birds and the occasional squirrel, which dismayed her to no end. Early in life Myrtle was an accomplished seamstress who made clothes for her children. She was a familiar face at the mall where she walked with her husband, Al, faithfully every morning. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Orono and the Daughters of Isabella. She is survived by her three children, Laurie Dempsey and partner, Dan Force, of Han-over, Lynn and her husband, Harold Dall, of Bradley and Randall Chaloux and his wife, Pam, of Waterbury, Conn.; her grandchildren, Missy and Jim Harper, C.D. and Bobbi Farnsworth, Robin Smith, Michele and Chris Hepburn, Erica Green, Jessica and Declan Curtin, and Brandon Chaloux; great-grandchildren, Cody, Corey, Taylor, Megan, Kate, Charlie, Jack, Ryan, Brayden, Collin and Brennan; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Sam, Bob and Merle Pomeroy; her sister, Marguerite Miles; and son-in-law, Bob Dempsey. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 2, at Fairview Cemetery, Veazie, at a time to be announced at a later date.
