MILLINOCKET – Gilman P. Clavette, 77, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at a Millinocket hospital after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 30, 1932, in Grand Isle, to Ludger and Carmen (Lizette) Clavette. He grew up in Grand Isle on his family’s farm. In 1956, he and his wife, Rachel, moved to Millinocket, where he worked in the paper industry for more than 30 years. Gilman loved his camp on Millinocket Lake, where he loved to hunt and fish. He also liked gardening and sharing his produce. He was always a happy go lucky sort of a guy who loved to tell jokes. He took wonderful, loving care of his wife, Rachel, before she died. He was very devoted to her. Gilman is survived by four children: a daughter, Judy Wyman and her husband, Don, of Mattawamkeag, a son, Clayton Clavette of Millinocket, a daughter, Joyce Elliot and her husband, Bill, of Bangor and Camden, and a son, Roy and his wife, Michelle, of Stetson; three grandchildren, Aaron Wyman of Redondo Beach, Calif., Autumn and Garrett Apodaca of Albuquerque, N.M., and Grace Clavette of Stetson; brothers, Reginald and Loretta Clavette of Madawaska, Herbie and Ramona Clavette of Wolcott, Conn., Reed and Rita Clavette of East Windsor, Conn., Lucien and Loretta Clavette of East Hartford, Conn., Guy and Cathy Clavette of Vero Beach, Fla., and Claude and Cathy Clavette of Stillwater, Mich.; half brother, Gene Clavette of Carmel; sisters, Gilmay and Yvon Duquette of Naples, Lucille “Patsy” Levesque of Plainsville, Conn., Dorothy and Gabriel Boutot of St. Anne, New Brunswick, Nancy Pelletier of Edmundston, New Brunswick, and Linda and Charlie Devose of Nashua, N.H.; a half sister, Diane Clavette of Limestone; lots of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gilman was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Rachel; and a sister, Evette Chasse. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. There will be a Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider.
