MONSON, Maine — There will be plenty of snow on the ground Saturday for Monson residents and visitors to frolic in during the town’s annual Snowroller Day.

The “cabin-fever reliever,” sponsored by the Monson Recreation Committee, will provide an assortment of activities for all ages.

A basketball game for children will be offered tonight along with the Monson General Store’s Friday night “jam.”

Saturday’s events will begin with a snowroller on parade and a breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Monson Community Church. Games that include a downhill sled race, a snowshoe race, snowshoe jump-rope, ski toss, a skating race and a kick-sled race will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. behind the Monson Elementary School.

Wagon rides, dog sled rides, a snowmobile poker run, face painting, and an open house to review the renovations at the Monson Historical Society also will be offered during the event.

A lunch will be served at the Monson Gym and several businesses will sponsor a cookie-walk contest.

The day will finish with an awards ceremony at 4 p.m. at the post office parking lot followed at 6:30 p.m. by a bonfire and tug of war and a public dance at the gym sponsored by the Women’s Auxiliary.
