OLD TOWN – Phyllis M. Lozier, 77, passed away Feb. 20, 2009, surrounded by her loving family, at her home. Phyllis was born March 12, 1931, daughter of Burns and Margaret (McCauliffe) Avery. Phyllis was a proud member of Holy Family Church of the Resurrection of the Lord Parish, where she was a lector and Eucharistic minister for many years. Phyllis retired after many years of being the city clerk of Old Town. She enjoyed cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, golf and spending time at her cottage on Pushaw Pond. Phyllis was a strong willed woman with a wonderful sense of humor. Her family was very important to her, and she always enjoyed being with them. Phyllis will be sadly missed by all, including her three cats and her dog. Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, George Lozier; her daughter, Christine Jenkins; her six grandchildren, Robby, Stephanie, Melissa and her husband, Ken, Michelle and her husband, Robert, George and his wife, Amy, and Tim; and her six great-grandchildren, Corey, Abigail, Robby Jr., Elizabeth, George Jr. and Hunter Michael. She is also survived by her three brothers, Robert, Calvin and Francis. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents; her daughter, Deborah Campbell; her two brothers, Frank and Lloyd Avery; and her sister, Ruby Theriault. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Holy Family Church of the Resurrection of the Lord Parish. A luncheon will be immediately after at the parish hall. Interment will be in the spring at Lawndale Cemetery.
