PORTLAND, Maine — A group in Maine is hoping to take the traditional lobster roll and turn it into a record-setter.

The West End Neighborhood Association in Portland says it’s planning a fundraiser by taking a crack at making the world’s biggest lobster roll. The association is pitching the idea to Guinness World Records and working out the details of making a roll that would be at least 60 feet long.

The association’s Michael Whittaker — who doesn’t even eat lobster — says the sandwich will be made this summer using lobster meat and mayonnaise, but no fillers such as chopped celery.
