PRINCETON – Marion P. Trafton, 96, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at a Calais hospital. Marion was born June 28, 1912, at Lambert Lake, daughter of the late Herbert and Effie Grass. Marion was a devoted mother and a great friend. She was a generous woman who was always willing to help out anyone who was down or ill. She loved children; she not only raised two of her own but had a hand in caring for others just as they were hers. Marion was a 50-year and life member of Molunkus Valley No. 95 of Sherman, Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed knitting and sewing, traveling, going out for picnics, reading, fishing and even a little bird hunting, but most of all she enjoyed life and the people she shared hers with. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gerald W. Trafton; a sister, Velma O’Brien; a brother, Verde “Bud” Grass; and a special niece, Paula Jeanne Tuck, who Marion raised from infancy. Surviving are her son, Ralph Trafton and his wife, Marcia, of Brewer; her daughter, Geraldine Jellison and her husband, David, of California; six grandchildren, Kimberly O’Neill and her husband, David, of Portland, Andrea Trafton and Tom Hansen of Bangor, David “Chip” Jellison and wife, Tanya, of Nebraska, Connie Jellison and her husband, Paul, of Utah, Dale Jellison of Nebraska and Craig Tuck of Harpswell; two great-grandchildren, Jaimie and Samantha Jellison of Nebraska; two great-stepgrandchildren, Drew and Daine Driesan of Nebraska, and Sharon Grass and her husband, Jeff, of Baileyville, who was like a daughter to Marion. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Princeton Congregational Church, Main Street, Princeton, with Tom Tuck officiating. A graveside service will be after at Vanceboro Cemetery. Donations in Marion’s memory may be made to Calais Regional Hospital, care of Dee Dee Travis, 24 Hospital Lane, Calais, ME 04619 and CancerCare of Maine, 417 State St., Bangor, ME 04401.
