DELAND, Fla. – Helen Elizabeth (Kuhn) Warren Macrum passed away Feb. 7, 2009, in DeLand, Fla., where she had been a resident for the past several years. She was born Nov. 30, 1914, in Amsterdam, N.Y., into a newspaper family, to Edna and William H. Kuhn, having had one sibling, Gardiner Kuhn. She attended schools in Amsterdam, N.Y., and later attended finishing schools in Europe, where she studied art. “Betty,” as a young woman traveled extensively throughout Europe with her mother. In 1941 Elizabeth married Burtt E. Warren Jr. of Nashua, N.H. They had four children together. They moved to Daytona Beach, Fla., in 1956, also spending some years on Nantucket, moving to Bucksport in 1969. Burtt passed away in 1972. Elizabeth married Robert K. Macrum in 1974 and enjoyed several more years in the Bucksport community before moving to the St. Petersburg, Fla., area in the late 1980s. While in Bucksport, she was a member of Elm Street Congregational Church, Daughters of the American Revolution and Bucksport Garden Club. She loved to play bridge and spend time with her grandchildren and friends. Shortly after Robert’s death in 1995, Elizabeth moved to DeLand, Fla., to live near her daughter, where she resided until recently. Elizabeth is greatly missed and survived by her four children and their spouses, William K. and Libby Warren of Prospect, Burtt E. and Donna Warren of Portland, Bayard K. and Susan Warren of Prospect and Bronnie and Tom Barnard of DeLand, Fla. Ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive her, as well as many other special relatives and friends. Plans for a graveside service in the spring will be announced at a later date.
