TUCSON, Ariz., MATTAWAMKEAG and BUCKSPORT – Corinne J. Hawkes, 87, died Thursday, March 5, 2009, in Tucson, Ariz. She was born July 20, 1921, in Yuba City, Calif., daughter of the Rev. Correll and Grace Julian. She was raised and educated in the San Francisco area, moving to Maine after her marriage in 1948. She taught elementary school in Mattawamkeag, Bucksport and Searsport. She and Edward moved to the Voyager RV Resort, Tucson, Ariz., in 1985 after their retirement. She enjoyed singing in the choir, music and oil painting. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Edward Hawkes; two daughters and their husbands, Trudie and Harold Mailepors of Old Town and Tucson, Ariz., and Susan and Gerry Palmer of Bangor; one son, Charles of Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her twin sister, her brother; and one daughter, Kathryn Pearson. A memorial service will be held Thursday in Tucson, Ariz. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
