ROCKLAND, Maine — No one was injured Friday afternoon when a 40-foot fishing vessel ran aground.

The scallop dragger Sea Horse ran aground on Ash Island in the Mussel Ridge Channel south of Rockland.

The U.S. Coast Guard sent a 47-foot motor launch and the Marine Patrol sent its vessel Guardian, as well. According to Chris Berry, a search and rescue coordinator with Coast Guard Sector Northern New England in South Portland, the water was too shallow for the Coast Guard vessel to reach the fishing boat. The Marine Pa-trol, however, was able to use a small inflatable boat on board the Guardian to rescue two people from the grounded vessel.

No one was injured. The fishermen planned to refloat the vessel at the next high tide, which was about 2 a.m. today.
