NEW GLOUCESTER – Phyllis Winona Snow, who was born April 16, 1916, to Amy and Bernard Segars, died March 17, 2009. She lived in New Gloucester her entire life. She met her future husband, Herbert Snow, during their high school years and they were married Nov. 23, 1936. She worked for a shoe manufacturer, both at home and in Auburn. Later she made pies and other desserts at Cole Farms restaurant in Gray. Her interests and talents were many. She was an expert at sewing, knitting and crocheting. She delved into ceramics as a hobby and supplied her family with holiday decorations. She fostered a love of music for her children, playing the violin and piano, and providing opportunities for her children to have piano lessons. She loved her family dearly, and will be remembered as a wonderful, kindhearted woman by all. She was able to maintain a positive attitude during times of adversity. Phyllis passed on her wonderful laugh and when her family gets together her laughter is heard throughout the room. She took with her, her pie crust and biscuit recipe, since no one could ever learn to replicate it. Phyllis, Mom, Grammy and Great-Grammy will forever be missed and remembered. Phyllis is survived by her children, Donna Ault of Hermon, Linda and her husband, Robert Parker, of Portland, Amy and her husband, Alfred Jensen, of New Gloucester and David and his wife, Paula Snow, of New Castle, Del. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and is survived by a sister, Glenice Tufts of New Gloucester; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, infant daughter; and siblings, Bernice Hall, Guy Segars and Raymond Segars. There will be a celebration of Phyllis’ life 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at First Congregational Church of New Gloucester. There will be a gathering 3 p.m. in the church vestry for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Herbert J.
