MILLINOCKET – Dorothy M. “Dot” Pound, 97, wife of the late Tully J. Pound, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009, at her granddaughter’s home in Millinocket. She was born Feb. 9, 1912, in Millinocket, daughter of William and Matilda (Barnett) McLean. Dot was a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Millinocket. In her younger years, she was an active member of the Plus & Minus Club and VFW Women’s Auxiliary. Dot had a passion and skill for knitting, which kept many of us warm. She was an avid reader, a great card player and a witty storyteller until the end. Dot took great pride in her flowers and with the help of her granddaughter, Roberta, she enjoyed them every summer. She is survived by her son, Robert Pound and his wife, Rose, of South Meridan, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Roberta Oakes and partner, Danny McAvoy, of Millinocket, Robert Pound Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Colebrook, Conn., Linda Trabold and husband, Kurt, of Fredrick, Md., Kim Novatko and husband, Bruce, of Tampa, Fla., Kevin Pound and wife, Emily, of Daytona Beach, Fla., Keith Pound and wife, Audrey, of Wilson, N.Y, and Kenneth Pound and wife, Cathy, or Torrington, Conn.; two siblings, James McLean and Nadine Doe, both of East Millinocket; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who brought her many joys throughout the years. In addition to her husband, Dot was predeceased by two sons, Tully Pound Jr. and Norman Pound; and five siblings, Richard McLean, Clayton McLean, William McLean, Ruth Comeau and Margret Nickless. The family thanks the many people who made it possible for Dot to live in her home comfortably, Brenda Tapley, Gale Brooks, Jackie Carter, Francis Megno, In Home Care, hospice and Katahdin Area Support Group. Friends are invited to visit with the family 5-8 p.m. Monday at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider.
