WILLOUGHBY, Ohio – James Matthew Bauschatz, 32, passed away March 17, 2009, in Willoughby, Ohio. Born Oct. 4, 1976, in Bangor, he had lived in Ohio since 2003. He was a 1995 graduate of Orono High School, Orono; attended Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio; and graduated from the University of Maine, Orono, in May 2003, with a major in elementary education and a minor in music. He was a member of SPEBQSA – Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, Bangor and Kirtland, Ohio. James was a featured singer in “Little Shop of Horrors” as the voice of Audrey II in productions at Kenyon College, and with Elyria Summer Theater and Silhouette Productions. He sang and toured as a member of the Kokosingers a capella group at Kenyon College and was most recently, a member of the Cleveland based Street Corner Singers. James was a member of AFTRA, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. He appeared in a number of independent films in Maine and Ohio, such as “Get Him,” “La Dolce Fajita” and “The Red Lantern.” He was a background actor in “Smart People” and the forthcoming “She’s Out of My League,” both studio productions filmed in Pittsburgh and also in the television production “The Kill Pit.” He is survived by his wife of eight years, Joiel Bauschatz, daughter of David and Ronnalee Davies of Kirtland, Ohio. He was a full-time, stay-at-home dad of his children, Paul and Ava; son of Paul and Cathleen Bauschatz of Orono; and brother of John F. Bauschatz and his wife, Retina and son, Oscar, of Tucson, Ariz. A gathering to celebrate the life of James will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at Osborne Community Plaza at Breckenridge Village, 36851 Ridge Road, Willoughby, Ohio. Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Monday at Lake Park Cemetery, 1459 East Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown, Ohio. An additional memorial service will be held later this year in Orono. Arrangements are entrusted to Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, Willoughby, Ohio.
