HOUSTON and BANGOR – June L. (Walsh) Oliver-Lourey, 75, passed away peacefully March 29, 2009, at her home in Houston, after a long illness. She was born June 18, 1933, in South Harpswell, to Genevieve and Dwight Walsh. June graduated from Bangor High School in 1951, then joined the military as a Navy WAVE. She was a member of the Army Reserves in the 70s, a graduate of Beal College and Bangor Community College in the 80s, where she earned degrees as a paralegal and substance abuse counselor. June moved to Houston in 1985. She is survived by her beloved husband and companion of 38 years, William K. Lourey; four daughters, Sue Binns of Red Oak, Iowa, Cheryll Mellenthin of Madison, Wis., Linda Currier of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Lisa Green of Dexter; a son, John Oliver of Fallbrook, Calif.; three stepdaughters, four stepsons, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Roberts of Lucerne and Loraine Arnold of Orono; many nieces and nephews; and a very special care giver, Karen Luehr of Houston. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ronnah Wills of Omaha, Neb.; and a sister, Ruby Doughty of Dedham. Services will be held 1 p.m. April 2 at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, 7723 Beechnut, Houston.
