BANGOR – Evelyn Friedman, 90, died April 19, 2009, at a Bangor health care center. She was born Aug. 7, 1918, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of Louis and Tillie (Beckerman) Thompson. Evelyn married Leo Friedman, in 1942, in New York. She graduated from the “My Turn” program at Kinsgboro Community College, Brooklyn, N.Y., prior to moving to Bangor in November 2003. Surviving are her loving husband of 67 years, Leo Friedman of Bangor; one son, Daniel Friedman and his wife, Carol, of Houston; one grandson, Michael Friedman of Seattle; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Friedman of Glenburn; one sister, Jocelyn Baim of Natick, Mass.; nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by a son, Allen Friedman, in 2006; two sisters, Edith and Anne; and one brother, William. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, April 23, at Sunbury Village, 922 Ohio St., Bangor, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson and Rabbi Darah R. Lerner officiating.
