ROCKLAND – Joan Marie Beauregard, fine artist, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at her home after a long illness. Joan was born Oct. 6, 1920, in De Pere, Wis. She studied painting and drawing at the Art Students League, New York City, in the 1950s. She maintained studios in New York City and Round Pond for many years before moving to Rockland in 1995. She is survived and honored by her husband, John David Ellis of Rockland; and her two sons, Joseph Steinberger of Rockland and Ned Steinberger of Nobleboro. A memorial service to be performed by DaPonte Quartet will take place at a later date. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to the Salvation Army, 27 Payne Ave., Rockland, ME 04841.
