PRESQUE ISLE – Rebecca “Becky” Jane Olore, 52, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 23, 2009, at her home, with her family by her side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Becky was born Jan. 11, 1952, in Presque Isle, the beloved daughter of Hugo and Jane (Shaw) Olore. Becky graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle as a registered nurse and worked at The Aroostook Medical Center – TAMC, for more than 28 years as a brilliant caretaker. She also served as a registered nurse on Royal Caribbean and Holland America cruise lines during her illustrious career. Becky was well known by all her friends and family for her great love of animals, traveling and picking various retirement portfolios. In addition to her parents, Jane and Hugo, Becky is also survived by her brother, Timothy Olore and his wife, Carole, of Presque Isle; and her brother, Stephen Olore and his wife, Tawny, of Orlando, Fla. She is also survived by her cherished nephew and niece, Nicolas and Sophia Olore of Orlando, Fla. Becky also leaves behind her “children,” William and Winston, her beloved cats. Friends and family may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 24, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Presque Isle. A reception will be held immediately after the funeral services at Northeastland Hotel, Presque Isle. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Best Friends Animal Society, Kanab, Utah; Elephant Sanctuary, Hohenwald, Tenn.; or Aroostook Animal Welfare Awareness Group, Presque Isle.
