The Republican Party is down and out; Sen. Arlen Specter’s defection to the Democrats
was the exclamation point. But things can, and do, change fast in politics. Who will be
the GOP’s Moses, to lead them back to the Promised Land? Sarah Palin? Mitt Romney?
Jeb Bush? Mike Huckabee? Bobby Jindal? And will a new agenda also emerge, perhaps
dropping an emphasis on social issues and acknowledging that government can solve
some problems? Does the GOP also need a kinder, gentler tone?
