MILBRIDGE – Gladys E. Brown, 69, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009, after a brief illness. She was born June 24, 1939, in Clifton, the daughter of the late Alice Carr. Gladys was a faithful employee of Red Barn Restaurant, Milbridge, for 44 years and was awarded the Employee of the Year in 1989. She was honored by a ceremony in Portland. She was a faithful and loving person to all her friends whom she thought of as her “family.” She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar Brown; her mother, Alice Carr; and her foster family, Howard and Aldena Snell. She is survived by her guardian and special friend, Rachel Leighton and her son, Harold and family; by a special friend, Tena; a brother, Vernon Carr; and a half sister, Virginia Powers. She will be sadly missed by her neighborhood family and all of her other friends too numerous to list. She also leaves behind her loving dog and companion, Sharky and her eight cats. A special thank you to her friends, Debbie and Carol for taking care of her animals prior to her death; friends, Queenie and Kristy for being there to take care of her many errands and appointments; and to Dr. Carl Aselton for the excellent care given to her for so many years. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge.
