EAST MILLINOCKET – Marilyn A. “Meemaw” Murray, 80, wife of the late Earl C. Murray Jr., passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 10, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Nov. 17, 1928, in Stoughton, Mass., the daughter of Llewellynn and Clara (Hussey) Davis. Marilyn was a woman of many interests. She obtained her pilot’s license many years ago and flew solo many times. She enjoyed travelling, and made many trips to Santa’s Village, Six Gun City, Grand Cayman Island, Disneyland, Aruba, Europe and many other destinations. Marilyn also enjoyed golf and was an avid card player, as well as Yahtzee. Marilyn liked winning, and never “let” anyone beat her, not even her great-grandchildren. If they beat her, it was on their own. Marilyn loved being around her family, and was proud to have successfully raised three children on her own, with much worry expended on her son, Steven, while he was in the Merchant Marines. She held special affection for her great-grandchildren, Abigail and Joshua Owen, who spent much time with her as their mother continued her education, and a special place in Meemaw’s heart was saved for Miss Olivia. Marilyn will be missed by all whose life she touched. She is survived by three children, Laura Rush-Ferguson of East Millinocket, Steven Murray and special friend, Wendy Briggs, of Medway, and Diane L. Bellfleur and her husband, David, of East Millinocket; two grandchildren, Sarah Cram and her significant other, Jeff Baker, of East Millinocket, and Anthony Jon Ferguson and his wife, Tiffany, of Millinocket; two great-grandchildren, Abigail Eve and Joshua Cram; five siblings-in-law, Helen Murray, Edith Murray, Dorothy Murray, Donald Murray and Harold Murray; two special nieces, Sonya and Bonita; a special nephew, Jimmy; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by a brother, William P. Davis; a sister-in-law, Laverne Fitzgerald; and a special friend, Norma Anderson. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at Lamson Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave., East Millinocket. Private interment will be at East Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Marilyn may be sent to Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.lamsonfh.com.
