KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – June W. Brown, 89, passed May 28, 2009, after an extended illness at home. She was born Oct. 17, 1919, in Bangor. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maine, Orono. That same year, she married Leroy C. Brown, her husband of nearly 52 years. She lived in Monroe for 30 years. She lived in Brooks and Melrose, Fla., for the next 16 years and moved to Zephyrhills, Fla., in 1994. In 2007 she moved in with her daughter in Knoxville, Tenn. She taught elementary school in Frankfort and Monroe, and later did volunteer tutoring in Florida. June is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ginny and Neil of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter, Bette of Waynesville, N.C.; son, Dana of Brooks; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her brother, John Webster of South Hadley, Mass.; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; grandson, Andy; two sisters, Alice and Betty; brother, Dan; daughter-in-law, Lois; and son-in-law, Peter. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, June 7, in Knoxville, Tenn.
