LEWISTON, Maine — Mike Hill of Mount Ararat High School in Topsham and No. 1 Christine Ordway of Waynflete High in Portland each earned their third state singles tennis championship on Monday.

Hill, a top-seeded senior, posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory over No. 2 Brandon Thompson of Waynflete for his third in a row, while Ordway needed three sets to outlast second-seeded Kasia Jania of Scarborough 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. in action held at Bates College’s Wallach Tennis Complex.

Hill made it a three-peat Monday by first knocking off fourth-seeded Joaquin Perez-Marza of Medomak Valley High in Waldoboro 6-2, 6-4 in the semifinals. Thompson had advanced with a 6-0, 6-1 win over No. 6 Tom Dillman of Greely High in Cumberland Center

Ordway, who also won in 2006 and ’07, downed No. 5 Annie Criscione of Falmouth 6-0, 6-1 in the girls semifinal match. Jania had advanced by beating No. 3 Chantalle Lavertu of Lewiston 6-3, 6-1.
