CARIBOU – Michael David Doody, 62, died June 7, 2009, in Caribou, after a long illness. He was born Sept. 19, 1946, in Caribou, the son of the late Ivory and Lela (Langley) Doody. Mike attended Woodland school and was a 1964 graduate of Caribou High School. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a life member of Lister-Knowlton Post No. 9389 VFW. Mike was a self-employed carpenter and was always available to help someone who had a need. He dearly loved the times when he could be one with nature, whether it was just riding through the forest or sitting in a fishing boat. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his acceptance of others, his extremely hard work ethic, and his love of family and friends. He is survived by a daughter, Michelle York of Caribou and her children, Keith Dickinson, Alan Dickinson Jr., and Alisha McClane and her husband, Mikel, and great-granddaughter, Savanah; his son, Justin Doody of Caribou and his children, Branden, Julie and Hayden; four brothers, Dana Doody and his wife, Ina, Wendell Doody and Frank Doody, all of Woodland and Evie Doody and his wife, Marie, of Bristol, Conn.; one sister, Linda McCrossin and her husband, Paul, of Presque Isle; a sister-in-law, Viola “Frenchie” Doody of Woodland; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends including Sandy, Jessie, CB and Murphy. Mike was predeceased by his wife, Connie (Bennett) Doody; two brothers, Malen and Ronald; two sisters-in-law, Gloria and Jane; a niece, Beth; and a great-niece, Nicole. A memorial service will be held noon Monday, June 15, at the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Jewell officiating.
