CARIBOU – Flora D. Brissette, 92, wife of the late Armand Brissette, died June 10, 2009, in Van Buren, after a brief illness. She was born March 8, 1917, in Caribou, the daughter of the late Vetal and Laura (Belanger) Berube Sr. Flora was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a former member of Ladies of St. Anne at Sacred Heart. Flora worked very hard her whole life, working at Sacred Heart school cafeteria, as well as at Maine Bag Co. She was employed as the shoe department manager for Spencer Shoe Co. at Millers Department Store, Caribou, for many years. She enjoyed her many crafts including crocheting baby sweaters, quilting, embroidery and ceramics. She also enjoyed sewing, painting nature pictures and baking for everybody. She will be especially remembered for her favorite doughnuts and many will miss her goodies that she would make for them. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gladys and Raymond Hooey Sr. of Caribou; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lewis and Jo Ann Brissette of Farmington, Conn., and Robert and Aline Brissette of Caribou; her grandchildren, John Bragdon and his wife, Lisa, of Caribou, Lisa Suire and Charles Kulas of Bolton, Conn., Cathy Hooey and Derick Sam of Caribou, Kimberly Guberman and her husband, Jason, Kris Brissette, all of Farmington, Conn., Melissa and Michael Hersey of Caribou, Heather and Joseph Stalker of Pemacook, N.H.; her great-grandchildren, Marty, Amy, Stephen, Samantha, Joshua, Kelly, Ashley, Thomas and Cheyenne; her great-great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Grace, Kevin Jr., Elijah, Alexia and Hailey; as well as numerous stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren; sisters-in-law, Anita Burby of Caribou, Blanche Hebert of Connor, Ida Chapman of Caribou and Eunice Burby of Brewer; a brother-in-law, Armand Bourgoine of Augusta; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brissette was predeceased by her husband in 1983; her sisters, Rosilda Brissette and Delcia Burby; and her brothers, Vetal Burby Jr., Sylvio Berube and Leo Berube, who died February 2009. Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday, June 13, at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. A funeral Mass will be celebrated noon Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
