CARIBOU – Elsie L. Fox, 78, died June 13, 2009, in Caribou. She was born Dec. 12, 1930, in Lancaster, Mass., daughter of the late H. Guy and Esther (Hatstat) Loverin. Elsie was as 1948 graduate of Lancaster High School. She served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was married to Staff Sgt. Ernest Miller in 1952. They had two children, Thomas and Diane, before Ernest died of a heart attack in 1959. In 1967 she married Maurice Fox, who was originally from Perham. They moved to Caribou and had one son, Peter. Elsie enjoyed caring for her family and her beautiful gardens, and later working with her husband, Maurice, at his used car business. She was a longtime and devoted member of Caribou United Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, served on the board of the church and was a member of Rebecca Mission Circle. She is survived by two sons, Thomas Miller of Gardner, Mass., and Peter Fox of Caribou; a daughter, Dianne Miller Hughes of Caribou; one sister, Helen MacBrayne of Lancaster, Mass.; three grandchildren, Jessica Miller, Derek Fox and Jared Fox; her former daughter-in-law, Lynda Gustafson of Woodland; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Fox was predeceased by her husband, Maurice in 1991; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Fox; and four sisters, Gertrude Ranlean, Ruth Turmaine, Carrie Evans and Margaret Zangarine. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mocker Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 18, from the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev.
