It’s Hammer time! No, really.

MC Hammer is yet another in the long line of yesterday’s celebs who’s making a comeback through reality TV. Much as they did with “The Osbournes” and Snoop, the cameras are following Hammer and his family through their everyday lives and catching it all on tape.

Why was I watching? Because it was late and Tru TV was all reruns. In all seriousness, the show isn’t as bad as I thought it would be and it’s kind of nice to see Hammer so supportive of his family. “Hammertime” on A&E is proof that he really is “too legit to quit,” and we hope he can avoid the reality TV curse that appears to tear families apart when they open themselves up to the cameras.

In that same vein, I know I’ve said before we need to leave Jon and Kate of “Jon & Kate Plus Eight” alone, but they just won’t go away. “In Touch Weekly” featured Kate on the cover apparently hitting one of the girls. If they really want to save their marriage Jon and Kate have some serious obstacles to overcome. I see a possible episode of “Intervention” with a trip to anger management classes in Kate’s future.

And hello! Vera Wang is considering doing “Dancing With the Stars” according to “People” magazine. Although she hasn’t signed a contract, the out-of-this-world designer has been approached to do the show and hasn’t said, “No.” Fashion shows this fall may keep her away, but I would love, love, love to see her give it a try. Can you even imagine what she’d wear?

One last tidbit. “American Idol” auditions kicked off Sunday in Massachusetts and a quick search of the Web for anyone with a Maine connection who auditioned popped up a photo of Rob Burnell, 16, of Readfield, getting a kiss on the cheek from his mom. As always, I love to hear about Maine people auditioning for reality shows — especially the wacky ones — so don’t forget to send me an e-mail about the experience.
