KITTERY, Maine — The Navy has set aside nearly $20 million for a repair project at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
Sen. Susan Collins, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, announced the funding Monday, a week after she toured the Kittery yard with Navy Secretary Ray Mabus.
Collins said the repairs to Dry Dock No. 2 will bring needed infrastructure improvements while providing good construction jobs.
The project includes repair of the middle and outer sill structure of the dry dock and substantial secondary support work.
