AUBURN, Maine — Auburn police say a 20-year-old transient from Missouri is in custody on charges arising from a home invasion in which an 85-year-old woman was robbed and beaten with a metal pipe.
Mark Elliot is being held in lieu of $20,000 cash bail at the Androscoggin County Jail on charges of robbery, burglary and aggravated assault.
Police say the victim, whose name was not released, was admitted to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
The home invasion occurred late Tuesday night at a residence on Cook Street. Police arrested Elliot after a sheriff’s deputy spotted him walking along Canal Street in Lewiston.
