HARPSWELL, Maine — Officials say it’s a mystery where dozens of hypodermic needles that washed up on a beach in Harpswell came from.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department said a woman and her children found more than 80 used needles Wednesday while taking a morning walk.
The needles were scattered along the beach, tangled up in seaweed and buried in sand. Officials say the needles were taken to a hospital for disposal.
