ST. ALBANS – Thera Finnemore, 95, went home to be with her Savior June 26, 2009. Mrs. Finnemore was born March 13, 1914, in Solon, a daughter of Harrison and Flora (McLaughlin) Gardiner. She graduated from Somerset Academy in 1930 and from Presque Isle Normal School in 1932. In 1933 she married Harry Samuel Finnemore Sr. Thera was an active member of Athens Grange and Victory Club for many years. She taught in the public school system in Athens and Hartland for 31 years. She later taught in South Hope and Hartland Christian schools for the next 10 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Newport. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry; two sisters, Viola Poland and Dora Tolman; and three brothers, Chester, J. Bernard and Elmer. Thera is survived by six children, Norman and wife, Joan, of South Hope, Beverly and husband, Earl Forbus, of Sweden, Barbara Finnemore of St. Albans, George and wife, Barbara, of Winslow, Sandra and husband, Ron Peterson, of St. Albans and Harry Jr. and wife, Donnice, of Waterville; 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 3, at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be at East Union Cemetery. Because of allergies, the family requests that live flowers be omitted.
