Nichols Day Camp on Walker Pond in Sedgwick is managed by Blue Hill Society for Aid to Children, and includes Scamp Camp and Adventure Camp.

BHSAC executive director Candy Eaton reports BHSAC will hold its “first-ever lobster bake,” a fun-filled family day, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at the camp. Advance tickets are now available.

For the lobster, the presale cost is $20, or $25 at the gate.

If you prefer hamburgers and hot dogs, advance tickets are $10, or $12 at the gate.

Founded in 1963 to teach area children how to swim, Nichols Day Camp now offers everything from sailing to drama.

Eaton reports more than 10,000 children “have experienced at least one of our camps,” and since BHSAC does “not charge what the camps cost us to operate” it relies on fundraisers such as the lobster bake “to help us balance our budget.”

Tickets may be obtained by calling 359-2122 or 359-4900.

Eaton reports the event will include “fun family activities” including swimming, live entertainment by “our talented staff,” door prizes and a raffle for a week’s stay in October at a condo on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, just in time “for foliage viewing.”

Eaton hopes area residents and vacationers will plan to attend and “enjoy eating lobster on a summer day in Maine.”
