JONESBORO – Beverly L. Smith, 58, died Saturday, July 4, 2009, surrounded by her family at her home, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Beverly was born Oct. 1, 1950, in Cutler, to Emma (Dolly) and Elliott McGuire. Beverly grew up and attended school in Cutler and Jonesport. She worked for Andy’s Seafood and C.E. Fish Co., for most of her life. Beverly loved to cook, sew and spend time with her family. She adored her pets to the fullest. Beverly was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, daughter and grandmother, who will be deeply and sadly missed. Beverly is survived by the love of her life and husband of 42 years, Raymond C. Smith; three daughters, Louisa Drisko and husband, David, of Jonesboro, Betty Sue Rackliff and husband, Ernie, of Jonesboro and Viola Leighton and husband, Brian, of Machiasport; a brother, Burton McGuire of Cutler; a sister, Lorraine Harmon and husband, Harvey, of Marshfield; three brothers-in-law, Walter Smith and wife, Tracy, of Jonesboro, David Smith and wife, Monique, of Whitneyville and Bruce Smith of Jonesboro; two sisters-in-law, Elsie “Sis” Berube and husband, Ray, and Jane Hoover and husband, Donald, all of Connecticut; one very special grandson, Raymond C. Smith II; three granddaughters, Megan Racila, Alicia Preston and Hayley Stanhope; four stepgranddaughters, several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Gloria Alley and Barbara Fish. She was predeceased by her parents; mother-in-law, Myrtle Mclaughlin; father-in-law, Harris Smith; sister, Barbara McGuire; sister-in-law, Barbara McGuire; brothers-in-law, William and Ira Smith; and grandchildren, Emma and Clayton Stoddard and Colby Drisko. Many thanks are sent to Mary Dow Clinic, Ellsworth; Dr. Giordano; CancerCare of Maine, Bangor; and all her other doctors, nurses, volunteers, friends, neighbors and hospice for all their help and support during this very difficult time.
