WOODVILLE – Donald W. Betts, 70, died July 13, 2009, at a Millinocket hospital after a long illness. He was born May 9, 1939, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of John and Emma (Lippolt) Betts. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the U.S. Army serving with the 82nd Airborne for two years. Donald then served four more years in the Army Reserves. He worked for Great Northern Paper for 30 years as a machinist. Don was a selectman for the town of Woodville for several years and a 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Beaton) Betts; his daughter, Karen Campbell; his son, Kenneth Betts; three grandchildren, Logan and Dylan Betts, and Jennifer Campbell; mother-in-law, Margaret Beaton; sisters-in-law, Donna Dilg, Barbara Hanlon, Pam Onofrietti and Kerrie Lall; brothers-in-law, Edward Angwin, Dana Beaton, Barry Beaton and Brian Beaton; many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all the staff at CancerCare of Maine. Private services for the family will be held at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with interment at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
