PITTSFIELD – Marilyn O. (Tozier) Staples, 81, passed peacefully from this life Sunday, July 12, 2009, in Bangor, with many of her loved ones at her bedside. She was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Walter and Shirley (Wyman) Tozier. She lived in Guilford for many years and married Cecil Staples Jr., Jan. 26, 1946. Together they raised five children. Marilyn was a creative person. She enjoyed knitting mittens and afghans, gardening, making strawberry jam, canning, playing cards and fishing. She was content to be at home watching her favorite movies, especially Disney. She enjoyed being with family and friends. She was a good woman who was loved very much. She is survived by her three sons, Walter Staples and his wife, Rebecca Cayford, of Madison, Paul Staples and his wife, Pam, of Brooksville, and Joseph Staples and his fiancee, Jodie Moholland, of Pittsfield; two sisters, Josephine Tozier Tarr and her special friend, Bob Boisvert, of Parkman, and Linda Elizabeth Tozier of Guilford; two brothers, David Winfield Tozier and his wife, Lois, of Limington, and George Phillips Tozier and his wife, Judy, of Guilford; seven grandchildren, Roland, Raquel, Ronda, Cheryl, Jesse, Joshua and Jeremy; 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins, who all loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil Staples Jr.; and two daughters, Elsie Anna Sherwood and Cecilia Jean Sherburne. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 17, with the Rev.
