KENNEBUNK – David Thomas Vogt, 47, died July 15, 2009, surrounded by his family, in Kennebunk, after a courageous battle with cancer. David was born Sept. 29, 1961, in Fitchburg, Mass., the third of five children raised by Herbert and Janet Vogt, his loving parents. David spent the past 30 years living in Georgia, most recently in Cumming, while raising the sunshine of his life, his daughter, Sarah Vogt. David is survived by his daughter, Sarah; parents, Herb and Janet Vogt of Hampden; his loving and caregiving sister, Suzanne Bridges of Kennebunk, who stayed with him in Georgia while he went through his treatments and supported him every day throughout his fight right through his final journey back to Kennebunk to be with family, and her husband, Brent, nephews, Nicholas and Nathaniel and niece, Courtney; his brother, Danny Vogt of Manlius, N.Y., and his wife, Wendy, nephew, Jonah and niece, Jessica; his sister, Rebecca Husted of Columbus, Ohio, and her husband, Corey, nephew, Caleb and niece, Erica; and brother, Michael, of Raleigh, N.C, and his wife, Montie and niece, Kaitlyn. David was predeceased by his infant sister, Karen, in 1957. David also had lifelong friends that played a significant role in his life in Anne and David Jenkins, Jeff Burkard, Jay Casabonne, Jim and Leah Williamson, David Ranieri and Peter Holt. Special thanks to Hospice of Southern Maine for making David’s final days comfortable and peaceful surrounded by his loving family. He will always be Dave Wave to all who loved him, and his smile and loving heart will be in our minds every time Sweet Caroline blasts from our stereos. A celebration of David’s life will be held 3 p.m. July 18 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, with a reception immediately after at the home of Suzanne and Brent Bridges.
