DETROIT – Albion W. Morton, 90, died July 17, 2009, at a Hartland nursing home. He was born Jan. 29, 1919, in Detroit, a son of Harold and Myrtle (Raynes) Morton. He attended Newport High School and worked many years as a loom fixer and weaver at American Woolen Mills, Pittsfield, and Eastland Woolen Mill, Corinna. Albion was a member of Detroit United Methodist Church, the Grange, Odd Fellows and Masons. He is survived by a son, David of Falmouth; a daughter, Sonia Staples of Pittsfield; a sister, Ruth Wright of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, Susan, Beth, Kyler and Kaelynn; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Amsden of Newport. Albion was predeceased by his wife, Isabel (Amsden) Morton, Aug. 18, 1995; a daughter, Donna; and brother, Ralph. Family graveside committal prayers will be held at Detroit Village Cemetery.
