AUGUSTA – Pamela J. Reed, 63, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 25, 2009, with family by her side at home. She went to be with the Lord after a long courageous battle with breast cancer. Pam was born March 26, 1946, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Donald and Edna (Foss) Everett. She graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1964 and continued her education pursuing a career in nursing. She graduated from Northern Maine Technical Institute in 1965 with a nursing degree. After working for five years in the nursing field and then staying at home to raise her children, Pam entered the field of education. Pam loved working with her students. She taught special education children for 23 years at Capital Area Technical Center. Pam was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She was a wonderful, caring, nurturing and loving woman, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She loved spending time at their summer cottage on Schoodic Lake. He favorite pastimes were knitting, visiting with family and friends, and gardening. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Wayne Reed of Augusta, who she married Dec. 9, 1966, in Fort Fairfield; a son, Timothy Reed and his wife, Tina, of Hampden; a daughter, Kimberly Blackstone and her husband, Dana, of Winthrop; her parents, Donald and Edna Everett of Caribou; a brother, Jeffery Everett and his wife, Cathy, of Caribou; three grandchildren, Drew Blackstone, Tyler Reed and Trevor Reed; two nieces, Michelle Reed and Celeste Hanish; and a nephew, Ryan Everett. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Reginald Reed and his wife, Lorraine; and her best friend, Dee Bigelow. There will be no visiting hours. A celebration of Pam’s life will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, at Green Street United Methodist Church, Augusta, with the Rev. Thom Blackstone officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Racing Against Cancer, care of Kim Blackstone, P.O.
