SIDNEY and BANGOR – Pauline Patricia (Scott) Maquillan, 94, our beloved mother, passed away July 26, 2009. She was born Dec. 31, 1914, in Houlton, the daughter of Edward E. and Eva (Randall) Scott. As she always said, “everyone celebrates my birthday.” She married John H. Maquillan Jr., June 28, 1935. Pauline loved her family more than life itself. She was a great competitor, loved games of any type. At age 80, she played horseshoe, still able to get a ringer. In the past few years, she and her sister, Margaret Leathers of Old Lyme, Conn., competed daily to see who would first find the solution to the jumble in the newspaper. Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Violette and her husband, Thomas, of Sidney and Sondra Kenney and her husband, Richard, of Belleview, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Mary Maquillan of Alachua, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, Mark, Robert and Chris Maquillan, Laurie Macdaid, Lisa Dougherty, Jeff, Gregg and Glenn Smith, Shellie Cassidy, Nicole and John Violette, Timothy and Mark Kenney; 21 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John; two sons, John III and Ronald; three sisters and six brothers. Relatives and friends are invited to call 1 p.m. until the time of service Thursday. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
