FORT KENT – Dora (Martin) Bourgoin, 70, died peacefully July 28, 2009, surrounded by her family at her residence, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dora was born May 9, 1939, in St. Anne, New Brunswick, the daughter of Alphonse and Agnes (Girard) Martin. She belonged to the Northern Neighbor Quilters, which she truly enjoyed as well as cooking and bird watching. She will be remembered as a selfless, giving person by her family and friends. Dora is survived by her husband of 50 years, James “Bugs” Bourgoin of Fort Kent; four children, Dale and his wife, Denise Bourgoin, of Saco, Glenn and special friend, Louise Sylvain, both of Fort Kent, Dawn and her husband, Kevin Daigle, of Soldier Pond, and Gail Bourgoin of San Diego; six grandchildren, Chris, Kelley, Alicia, Elizabeth, Miranda and Teagan; two brothers, Jean Martin of Bristol, Conn., and Meril and his wife, Lise Martin, of St. Anne, New Brunswick; and one sister, Martha and her husband, Reno Gagne, of St. Jacques, New Brunswick. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to both parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Gerald, in 1965; and her sister, Gerry, in 1993. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Those who wish may donate in her memory to Edgar J. “Guy” Paradis Cancer Fund, Northern Maine Medical Center, 194 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Services are being conducted by Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, 14 East Main St., Fort Kent.
