JONESPORT and MACHIAS – Olive R. Healey, 94, died July 31, 2009, at a Lubec health care facility. She was born Feb. 8, 1915, in Jonesport, the daughter of Charles H. and Mildred B. (Norton) Blake. Olive was educated in the Jonesport schools and graduated from Jonesport High School as co-valedictorian. She held several jobs in the Portland area before returning to the Machias area, where she helped establish the medical records department at Down East Community Hospital and worked as the head of the department until her retirement at age 70. Olive loved her gardens and was a great bowler. She is survived by a sister, Lilla Flaherty of Jonesport; a cousin, Gertrude Davis of Machias; several other cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her stepfather, Ephraim Alley; brother-in-law, Benjamin Flaherty; and her former husband and friend, John Healy. A funeral service will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 220 Court St., Machias. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Jonesport. www.bragdonkelley.com
