BELFAST, Maine — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Department made arrests for alcohol-fueled disorderly conduct at two music festivals over the weekend.
Chief Deputy Robert Keating said one arrest was made at the Winterport Music Festival on Saturday and another at the BelTec Festival in Belmont on Sunday. Both involved intoxicated revelers.
Susan P. LeHey, 57, of Old Town was charged with disorderly conduct by Deputy Ben Seekins after she resisted his efforts to remove her from the Winterport festival. Keating said Seekins repeatedly warned LeHey that she faced possible arrest if she did not calm down but she continued to curse and shout at him. She was taken to Waldo County Jail and later released on personal recognizance bail.
Keating said Shaun Nickerson, 18, of Dexter was arrested at the seventh annual BelTec festival after the private security firm working there alerted Deputy David Mushrall at 1:16 a.m. Sunday that they were removing an unruly patron.
Keating said Mushrall saw Nickerson stumble and fall several times. He said the deputy attempted to find Nickerson a ride home but he continued to curse and argue. Nickerson was charged with disorderly conduct and possession of alcohol by a minor. He was taken to Waldo County Jail where bail was set at $800.
Keating said the deputies were sent to BelTec a few times during the three-day festival event, mostly for noise and parking problems. There were reports that some festival-goers parked cars on private property that had to be removed by tow trucks.
“This was the seventh year they’ve had the festival. They have private security and call if we’re needed,” Keating said Monday. “When we get noise complaints, they lower the sound.”
