SOLDOTNA, Alaska – Rodney James Rogers, 16, died unexpectedly Aug. 6, 2009, in a tragic auto accident. He was born Jan. 18, 1993, in Greenville. He lived in Maine until age 12, when he moved to Soldotna, Alaska. He was spirited, caring and loved to joke – always ready with a smile and a great friend to many. Rodney was an active, free spirited young man who was always looking forward to the next adventure and willing to try new things. He had a bright life ahead of him and will be sorely missed and loved. He left a hole behind that can’t be filled, but those who loved him will always remember and honor him as the loving soul that he was. Rodney is survived by his mother and stepfather, Marion and Andy Solomon of Soldotna, Alaska; grandparents, Sherwood and Joyce Williams; beloved brother of Katie and Jason Shook, and Darrell Rogers; and stepbrother to Jacob Solomon, Evan Solomon and Michelle Buotte. He was a favorite uncle and nicked named “Uncle Yo-Yo” by his nephews and nieces, Julian and Jetta Shook, Tristan and Blaine Rogers, and Alexis Buotte; and extended family and friends in Maine and Alaska. Rodney was predeceased by his father, Darrell Rogers.
