LINCOLN – Lois M. O’Brien, 88, wife of Oric O. O’Brien, passed away Aug. 17, 2009, at her summer home in Lakeville. She was born June 21, 1921, in Talmadge, the daughter of David and Ethel (Williams) DeLong. Lois took a secretarial course at St. Stephen Business College, and worked as a secretary for Dead River Co. all of her working life. During retirement years, she and Oric spent winters in Florida, and when in Maine, enjoyed traveling extensively as part of the Holiday Rambler Travel Trailer Club. They also enjoyed square dancing. She was a member of Lincoln Congregational Church, Pilgrim Daughters and the Extension. In addition to her husband, Oric, she is survived by three stepchildren, Valerie Whittier of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Darcy Campbell of Benson, Ariz., and Kevin O’Brien of Springfield; a sister, Muriel Dion of Berlin, N.H.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Royce Gleason, in 1966; two sisters, Claire Pierce and Evelyn Bradley; and a brother, Charles DeLong. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lincoln Cemetery with the Rev. Linda Hatch officiating.
