ROCKWOOD – Frederick A. Johnson, 85, died Aug. 18, 2009, at C.A. Dean Hospital, Greenville. He was born March 14, 1924, in Leeds, son of Frederick and Amy (Knox) Johnson. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years during World War II as a gunner’s mate and was a member of the American Legion. After the service, he worked for many years for Textron, Wilmington, Mass. He enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid hunter, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In recent years, he and his wife enjoyed spending their winters in Florida. He is survived by his wife, Merna (Pettegrow) Johnson of Rockwood; a daughter, Louanne Johnson of Nashua, N.H.; two granddaughters and their husbands, Inga and Kevin Michalewicz of Merrimack, N.H., and Melissa and Gerald Talty of Hudson, N.H.; and four great-grandsons, Jake, Ian, Aaron and Brett. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Greenville Chapel of Crosby & Neal, at the Masonic building, 281 Pritham Ave., Greenville, with Pastor Harbour Mitchell III officiating.
