PRINCETON – Gordon Jones passed away Aug. 21, 2009, after a brief illness. He was born April 7, 1944, the son of Fred and Martha Jones. Gordon was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who loved old Westerns and NASCAR with his longtime friend, Malcolm Burke. He was a longtime truck driver who loved to restore old cars, loved his daily rides around Pokey and Princeton Rod & Gun Club roads with his son, Randy, so he could stop and chat with Billy Wallace and everyone he met. He loved fishing and hunting with his sons; nephew, Kevin; niece, Sharon; and his friends, Scott Wheelock and Gilley Matherson, and was always trying to shoot a coyote off Johnny and Sonny Pike’s Bait in the winter on Pokey Road. He was predeceased by his parents; infant son, Alton; brother, Gerard Jones; half brothers, Martin Brown and Alton Jones; half sister, Helen; and nephew, Jeffrey Jones. Gordon is survived by sons, Danny and wife, Laurie Jones, and Randy Jones of Princeton; daughters, Pam Cassidy of Millinocket and Sandra Jones of Brewer; grandchildren, Mandy, Joey, Ashley, Martha and Gordon Delihia; great-grandchild, Riley Schamm; two brothers, Bernard Jones and wife, Bernita, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Dale Jones and wife, Bernita, of Princeton; half brother, Leonard Jones of Skowhegan; half sister, Dorothy Cochran of Brookton; many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephew and cousins. There will be a gathering 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Princeton Rod & Gun Club.
