FRANKFORT – Dorothy L. Quigley, 89, passed away peacefully Aug. 28, 2009, at a Belfast nursing facility. Dorothy was born Aug. 7, 1920, in Prospect, daughter of the late Amos K. and Bertha (Larrabee) Lane. Dorothy spent her childhood in Searsport and Frankfort, and was a graduate of Frankfort High School. She then worked for many years at the Frankfort Post Office in several positions and was an active volunteer at several organizations, including Eastern Maine Medical Center, American Red Cross, St. John’s Soup Kitchen and the Frankfort School. Dorothy was a faithful communicant of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Winterport, where she was an active member of the Daughters of Isabella and St. Gabriel’s Women’s Action Group. Dorothy will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all. Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Peter D. Quigley and wife, Nancy, of Prospect, Ann Q. Foley of Winterport, Donald L. Quigley and wife, Glenna, of Frankfort and Mark H. Quigley and wife, Kristina, of Stockton Springs; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, Harold F. Quigley; two brothers, infant, Albert Lane and Alfred Lane; and sister, Joyce Edes. Family and friends may call 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Main Street, Winterport. Interment will be immediately after the funeral Mass at Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport.
