An AP story on Monday reports that the Internet began as a concept some 40 years ago. Today, just a dozen years after it was widely accessible, its staples include social networking venues and the broadcast of videos made by seemingly ubiquitous cameras.

What’s next? Will the PC replace TV? Will most people access the Web via a personal device, like a Blackberry? Will the Web narrow to a series of popular “channels,” like YouTube and FaceBook, or will the prevalence of individual sites remain?
