SOUTH ADDISON – Everett C. Farren passed away Aug. 31, 2009. He was born Nov. 17, 1915, the son of Emma and Elmer (Cole) Farren. He and his wife, Barbara enjoyed more than 63 years of marriage. Everett was a veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific for three years. He was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery and battle stars for fighting in Guadalcanal, New Georgia, Banika, Philippines, and New Guinea. He retired as a foreman for the Department of Transportation after working for 32 years. After that, he enjoyed lobster fishing for several years. He was a member of Community of Christ Church, Tuscan Lodge, American Legion and a past member of Wescogus Chapter of Order of Eastern Star and Indian River Grange. Everett enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on clocks, playing joker and entertaining friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Ella Dunphy; granddaughters, Danielle and her husband, Raymond Webster, and Olivia and her husband, Rodney Mathews; four great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mona Farren and Mary Looke; many loving nieces and nephews, especially Connie and Ronnie Looke, who made it possible for him to remain in his own home for several years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Madiline Crowley and Katherine Farren; brothers, Prescott, Everard and Woodbury Farren; and son-in-law, Dana Dunphy. A funeral service will be celebrated 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at South Addison Union Church, South Addison Road, Addison. Interment with military honors will be at Churchhill Cemetery, Addison.
