Position Announcement Dairy Herdsperson J.F. Witter Teaching and Research Facility Maine Agricultural and Forest Experiment Station The Dairy Herdsperson will manage the University of Maine’s Teaching and Research Dairy Herd. Maintains routines for daily care, feeding, milking, and cleaning of milking and replacement herd. Monitors and diagnoses herd health. Manages herd reproduction; detects estrous, sire selection, and performs artificial insemination. Maintains computerized herd record keeping system. Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned. Typically has the education associated with a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related work experience in Animal Science or other related fields. Ability to travel, normally requiring a valid driver’s license. Work beyond regular hours (to include nights, weekends, and holidays) will be necessary.
